Lauren Wareham

Dr. Lauren Wareham, Ph.D., received her First-class honors degree in Biochemistry and Microbiology from the University of Sheffield, U.K., where she was also awarded the Boehringer Prize for Microbiology. She subsequently remained at the University of Sheffield to complete a Ph.D. in the laboratory of Professor Robert K. Poole where she investigated the role of gasotransmitters, such as carbon monoxide, in microbial physiology and pathogenesis. During her Ph.D. she investigated the “The effect of carbon monoxide and carbon-monoxide-releasing molecules (CORMs) on the enteropathogen Escherichia coli”, where she developed a range of spectrophotometry and molecular biology-based techniques.
