The Buys lab is part of the Anesthesia Center for Critical Care Research at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard medical School in Boston (USA). Our research group focuses on the role of the cyclic guanosine monophosphate pathway (cGMP) in cardiovascular disease and glaucoma, and aims to translate these findings to the clinic.

This fall, members of the Buys lab deployed to Antarctica to study whether altered nitric oxide (NO)-cGMP signaling underlies the capability of Antarctic Weddell seals to withstand severe bouts of hypoxia as they dive for prolonged periods of time.
